In september 1974,
my parents bought this brand new bay-window microbus of gloss
orange color which dates from at least august 1972 (maybe 1973...).
My father turned it himself into a "camper" :
- in 1974, putting up of 2CV van windows on the two sides,
- in 1977, roof painted in white (matching with the bumpers)
and addition of a central skylight,
- in 1979, cutting of the roof and addition of an articulated
roof OverVan (made in Chambray-lès-Tours).
The Microbus travelled a lot around : Germany, England, Austria,
Belgium, Scotland, Holland, Switzerland... and France (Alsace,
Aubrac, Lozère, Larzac...).
At christmas 1981, it unfortunately jammed its engine on the
way to Alsace (lack of oil in spite of a levels inspection).
My father gave it too quickly at his taste for a secondhand. |
